Oilers down Tornadoes Red in double

The Dunsborough Oilers completed a memorable Bunbury Basketball Association four-day double over Tornadoes Red, running out 86-64 winners in Tuesday night’s A-Women clash at the South West Sports Centre.

Spurred on by their Friday form, the visitors set the tone offensively in the opening quarter, crafting a solid 20-5 offensive run.

Versatility was the overriding component of their ability to put points up in bunches, with Beige Harris (24 points), Dana East (24 points) and Adele East (18 points) all able to cash in when opportunities came their way.

Once the lead ballooned beyond double digits, Red found it difficult to make inroads into the deficit, despite solid efforts from Karinda Farrant (26 points) and Cassady Anderson (11 points).

Although Red have lost back-to-back matches, they will welcome back some valuable inclusions down the final stretch of the season.

Red’s sister side Tornadoes Black recorded a comfortable 54-38 victory over Aces Sky, with Ebony Bilcich top scoring with 18 points.

In a performance which saw all players hit the scoresheet, Black broke the game open when Javene Fitch enjoyed a purple patch of offensive brilliance, with the Sky defence struggling to quell her effectiveness.

In A-Men action, Aces White passed on another tough lesson to Eaton Eagles, rolling to a 98-66 triumph.

The Eagles’ defence had their hands full all night with in-form talent Brody England (33 points), though he had plenty of teammates to share the points around with.

Trailing by 12 early in the opening quarter, the visitors slowly clawed their way back with Matthew Wilson and Blaine Thompson banking back-to-back baskets.

But almost as quickly as they had cobbled together momentum, White regained control with a 15-3 run in the shadows of half-time to put any hopes of a comeback out of reach.

Runaway league leaders Bulls took another step towards the minor premiership with a 77-58 win over the Dunsborough Oilers, with five players hitting double figures.
