Onshore Cup gets early jump on SWFL in Capes region
The Onshore Cup Football Association kicks off on Saturday afternoon, with all three matches to be played south of Capel.
Crucially, the association has also struck an early blow against the SWFL, in terms of giving Dunsborough Sharks supporters multiple tastes of football at home.
Dunsborough-Yalingup host the Boyanup Boars on Saturday afternoon — however the Sharks will not play their inaugural SWFL match at home until April 2.
Throw into the mix the fact a week later the Mulies will host the Busselton Bombers in a derby at Dunsborough Playing Fields, association officials have ensured there will be two home Dunsborough Onshore Cup games prior to the SWFL having a crack at the market.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Augusta lock horns with Vasse at Augusta Town Oval, while Busselton entertain Dalyellup at Sir Stewart Bovell Park.
With reigning SWFL premiers Augusta-Margaret River hosting Busselton on Saturday week at Gloucester Park in Margaret River, the battle for football dominance in the Capes community is likely to go up a few notches.
