South West police and volunteer groups have taken their hats off to the 2019 school leavers.

This year’s schoolies events saw more than 8000 students descend on the South West and it went off without a hitch.

Leaver’s commander, Inspector Mick Hayes said a minor percentage of schoolies played a little too hard, but he said overall they were well behaved and responsible all week.

“But I tell you what, we are sick to death of selfies,” he laughed. “But if that’s the worst we have to deal with at the events we’re happy.”

Red Frogs WA coordinator Hayden Glass said each year they notice schoolies drinking less and looking out for one another more and more.

“That’s not due to a rise in drug taking, just a lot more education around binge drinking,” he said.
