Rising star to represent Australia in Canada

Bunbury Catholic College student Eilish Warnock is training ahead of her Australian debut in the sport of ultimate frisbee.

The Year 9 student is the youngest player in the Australian Under-20 team which will head to Canada in August to compete in the World Junior Ultimate Championships.

Eilish, is one of four players from WA and she is excited to be joining the main squad, after making the development team last year.

“My family played and I always wanted to play myself,” she said.

“It will be a new experience for me, but it should be a great experience.

“I love the level of competition of people and am looking forward to meeting all the people from all different nationalities.

Eilish has been playing since she was 11 and said she loved the spirit of the game.

“Everyone is so friendly and so lovely when you play the game,” she said.

“Even the opposition congratulate you when you do something well.”

The teenager has big goals in the sport of ultimate frisbee, with arguably the pinnacle of sport in her sights if things go her way in the next few years.

“My goal is to represent Australia at the Olympics when it becomes an Olympic sport,” Eilish said.

“It is not at the moment, but we are hoping for it to be.”
