Science takes the stage

Newton Moore Senior High School’s gym was bursting with ideas and technology on Thursday for the annual Science Technology Engineering and Maths Fair.

STEM coordinator Jade Warrington said the fair showcased students’ work through exhibits and displays across a range of subjects.

Display projects were chosen and carried out by students on their own initiative and could range in any subjects from biology to chemistry and engineering to physics.

Projects included building nests for ospreys, making slime, robotics, aquaculture, air pressure propelled cars and static electricity.

Engineers from South32 also held workshops with students to use Makey Makey STEM Kits to produce a circuit for a playdough piano.
