The next generation of the South West’s finest netballers is set to take centre stage in Perth.

Netball WA South West recently announced the teams that will represent the region in the upcoming State Cup at Gold Netball Centre from October 7 to 9.

After players took part in the South West Regional Academy earlier in the year, players from across the region were selected to represent in three age groups — 20 & under, 16 & under and 14 & under.

Bunbury and Busselton were the South West towns that had the most representation with 10 athletes across the three teams, followed by Eaton and Leschenault with five each, and Bridgetown and Collie with three each.

Players selected to represent the South West in the 20 & under age group include Ebony Buegge, Georgia Burgess, Casey Cole, Kristyn Cook, Ella Dowsett, Tahlea Gadsby, Imogen Hunt, Kalani Marshall, Chloe Rogers, Abbey Sharpe, Emily Trewarn and Grace Waddell.

Tiahni Baggetta, Olivia Crothers, Holly-Jo Delaney, Tanika Dunlop, Ellie Forbes, Hannah Forbes, Jordon Gardiner, Milla Harker, Abbeygail Jones, Grace Millichamp, Isabel Reed and Mikayla Williams will make up the South West’s 16 & under team.

Aroha Tamatea will be coaching the 16 & under coach with assistance from Teagan Roney.

The South West’s 14 & under team included Chloe Buegge, Emmi Cahill, Mikayla Edwards, Maddie Edwards, Evy Green, Piper Harker, Charlotte Kampen, Emily Miller, Mia Repacholi, Ava Roney, Jasmine Rowe and Mia Sproule.

The 14 & under team will be coached by Megan Burvill, while Souwest Jets’ Riley Culnane will serve as an apprentice coach.

Tanika Dunlop will also be serving as an umpire during the tournament, alongside fellow umpires Maizie Brown, Lulu Goodall, Bailey Harkness, Alana Harris, Ashleigh Pratt, Ava Simpson and Kasey Walton.

The Netball WA State Cup is set to provide the opportunity for players, coaches and umpires across the State to compete against each other and acts as a selection point for them to progress to the next level of programs and pathways.

The inaugural State Cup took place in 2019, which saw the South West make grand final appearances in the 12 and under age division.
