South West police remember fallen comrades

South West police honoured their fallen comrades in a special ceremony in Bunbury this morning.

About 100 people packed out the Bunbury City Council chamber function room to pay their respects during the National Police Remembrance Day Ceremony.

The annual ceremony honours police who have died in the line of duty.

WA Police chaplain Keith Carmody told attendees this year’s ceremony marked 10 years since the last time he had to knock on the door of a family and deliver them “tragic news”.

During the ceremony, South West district police Supt. Mick Sutherland acknowledged a number of family members who had lost loved ones on the force.

“Our continued love and thoughts are with these families and many other police officers who have left us,” Supt. Sutherland said.
