Despite a devastating WAFL grand final loss, Claremont’s Bailey Rogers has shown he still delivers the goods with another solid performance on the big stage.

The Bunbury-born Rogers made an impact for the Claremont Tigers despite ultimately going down to West Perth 10.9 (69) to 8.9 (57) in Saturday’s WAFL Grand Final.

During the exciting match, Rogers put the pressure on to run into an open goal during the second quarter in a bid to keep the Tigers in close contention with the Falcons.

Despite Claremont making its fifth consecutive finals appearance and second grand final in three years, their quest to capture that elusive first premiership flag since 2012 continues to elude them.

Along with the goal, Rogers also scored three behinds for the match, and gathered 19 disposals, four marks, a tackle and two inside 50s.

Earlier in the day, a number of South West’s finest young footballers put on strong performances during the WAFL Colts grand final, which saw Peel Thunder hold off a fast-finishing West Perth by just two points.

Donnybrook’s Scott Tuia put on an impressive display, managing 25 disposals, four marks, seven tackles and three inside 50s.

Former Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault Lion Connor Carbone finished with 13 disposals, two marks, four tackles and two inside 50s, while fellow former Lion Clay Hall racked up 23 disposals, three marks, a tackle and four inside 50s.

Collie’s Jackson Broadbent was awarded the Mel Whinnen medal for his best-on-ground display, managing 17 disposals, four marks, two tackles, 23 hit-outs and two inside 50s.
