SW lithium producers boost mine investment

South Western Times

The Greenbushes lithium mine has received a boost with its US and Chinese owners committing to a new $500 million investment ahead of the completion of its planned $320 million upgrade.

The expansion is expected to double the mine’s production to 1.95 million tonnes of lithium concentrate a year from 2020.

It will provide a third lithium concentrate plant with a capacity of 520,000t of concentrate and a new crushing plant.

Talison Lithium announced the expansion on Wednesday.
