SW man charged over sexual abuse allegations

A South West man and former teacher has been charged with a string of historic child sex abuse offences over allegations he assaulted a 13-year-old student.

Perth detectives arrested the 56-year-old man who they allege sexually assaulted the boy between July 1997 and September 1998.

Police allege the man was the boy’s teacher at a south metropolitan primary school at the time.

The man has been charged with four counts of indecently dealing with a child under 16, three counts of sexually penetrating a child under 16 and one count of attempting to sexually penetrate a child under 16.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and have called on anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

The man is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court tomorrow.
