Three South West skaters are preparing for the biggest test of their short careers, the CHAPATIM Roller Cup in Portugal next month.

Laura Cameron, 17, Andrew Beattie, 15, and Madison Bright, 15, will all perform their individual dance performances on the world stage against some of the best.

Coach Susan Brooks said the teenagers would take on other skaters from all over the world.

“They have been to New Zealand before, but this is the first time they have competed in a big international event,” she said.

“The standard between Australia and New Zealand is fairly similar, while when we go to Europe the standard is a lot higher.

“I am very excited for them. It is a learning curb.

“Some of them may head to the World Championships next year, so it is good preparation for that.”

Brooks will head to Europe with the teenagers and said she was excited to see how her athletes perform.

“This is a competition just under the world championships,” she said.

“It will be a good opportunity to mix with the other coaches and skaters.”

Training out of The Rink, the team have been busily preparing and Brooks has confidence in her young athletes.
