Third Bunbury Heritage Forum to see history buffs gather to hear city’s untold stories

History lovers will come together tomorrow to connect over the stories that shaped Bunbury into the vibrant city it is today.

The Bunbury Heritage Forum will see local scholars, historians and those with a passion for the past mingle at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre to celebrate unshared memories.

Now in its third year, the forum will focus on untold stories to help form a deeper understanding of the city’s identity and all that contributed to it.

Event MC and Bunbury Oral History Group chair Brendan Kelly called on community members to share their untold stories.

“We want to hear from the B side of history,” he said.

“There are so many stories out there that tell Bunbury’s history, and it’s important we acknowledge them.”

Mr Kelly said the pandemic brought more people out because they started to look through old family belongings while stuck at home.

“People are more invested in history and heritage,” he said.

“Bunbury’s history differentiates it from everything around it,” she said.

“The more forums we have, the better we understand the history.”

The free forum will take place from 10.15am and will see speakers and experts in their field share stories through interactive websites, film and oral history and performance.
