Town’s arcade art show draws in all comers

Donnybrook’s Central Arcade on South Western Highway was full of colour last week as the Donnybrook Arts and Crafts group hosted their annual Colour Exhibition.

Featuring more than 90 works of art from creatives across the South West region, exhibition co-ordinator Claire Connolly said the event was a huge success.

“We’ve been tracking the number of people that have come through and on the first day we had nearly 200 people come through,” she said.

“The theme was all the colours under the sun and most of the artists just heard the word colour and went for it.

“We have some artists in here who have never exhibited before and I think this particular exhibition gave them the chance to submit their works with confidence.”

Taking home the first prize of $600 was Philip Berry followed by Ev Dowley who received second prize. Peter Clarke took out third place.

“We had three judges, two from Perth and Joanne Baitz from the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery (BRAG),” she said.

“There were no categories so the judges had to judge everything — you can imagine how difficult it would have been.
