Wallam in the running for big award
Eaton resident Les Wallam is a nominee for the 2020 WA Senior Australian of the Year award.
With the winner set to be announced at a function in Perth on Thursday, Mr Wallam is the chief executive of Roelands Village and has spent many years volunteering for the Woolkabunning Kiaka charity.
He has won many awards over the years for his work, including the Order of Australia.
National Australia Day Council chief executive Karlie Brand said the WA nominees were leaders both in their fields and in the community.
“The 2020 Western Australia nominees are contributing in many different areas and are all inspirational in their own way – they are an extraordinary group of everyday Australians,” she said.
The winners will travel to Canberra in late January for the National awards ceremony.
