After a last-quarter blow-out stopped them in their tracks, the Souwest Jets will be looking at aiming for more consistency and control to start climbing up the WANL ladder.

Looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to the Southside Demons, the Jets will return to their home court at Eaton Recreation Centre on Sunday, when they take on the Rangers during the third round of the 2023 WANL season.

While there were definite signs of improvement within the side, coach Cherie Farnan said the focus going into the match would be on themselves.

“We were in the game for well over half and then we let it blow out,” she said.

“Consistency and sticking to the game plan is key.

“We’ll be looking at controlling our decisions and our actions to be sure to follow the game plan to form and build on successes.”

Farnan also said the team was continuing to find connections between teammates throughout training and game-play scenarios.

“Finding those connections requires time, communication and commitment and we are definitely seeing positive signs and building in that space,” she said.

While there is plenty of experience within the Jets squad, goal shooter Kate Kimberley has been making an impression on the court, making solid contributions during her managed minutes.

Farnan said Kimberley would likely continue to play on managed minutes as she continued to get used to playing WANL at the open level.

Meanwhile, the Rangers will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 70-49 loss to the Curtin Hamersley Comets.

The last time that the Jets and the Rangers met was during round 13 of the 2022 WANL season, when the Rangers pulled off a convincing 72-40 victory.
