After spending almost three weeks away from the netball court, the Souwest Jets will be looking to return to their WANL campaign fit and firing.

Following a 17-day break due to State and national championships taking place, round six of the 2023 WANL season is set to take place this Friday with the Jets hosting Peel Lightning at Eaton Recreation Centre.

With both sides yet to record a win this season, the Jets and the Lightning will certainly be keen to give it all they’ve got after an extended period of time off the court.

The Jets showed plenty of promising signs during their round five match-up against the Curtin Hamersley Comets earlier this month, with strong efforts among the defenders and mid-courters enabling them to outscore the undefeated Comets 18-10 during the second quarter and take a two-goal lead at half-time.

However, the Jets were left bitterly disappointed when the Comets came firing back and dominated throughout the second half to claim victory by 11 goals.

While a guest appearance by West Coast Fever defender Rudi Ellis proved valuable, the Jets will need to maintain a high standard of play throughout all four quarters to better their chances of finally capturing a win.

Meanwhile, Peel Lightning will be looking to bounce back as they also continue to chase their first win of the season, after falling short to the West Coast Warriors 58-46 earlier this month.

The last time that the Jets went up against the Peel Lightning was during round 11 of the 2022 season, when the Jets led from the outset to win 60-40.
