Bunbury's wettest April since 2008 is not tipped to be followed by a wetter than normal May.

Despite April's rainfall of 98.6mm being more than twice the monthly average, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting only a 39 per cent chance of May's rainfall exceeding the median.

Three days of heavy rain between April 11 and 13, which resulted in 60.2mm being dumped on Bunbury, helped push the month's tally well past the long-term average of 39.2mm.

Temperatures were a mixed bag during April, with average minimums above the long-term figure and average maximums below.

Bunbury's average minimum last month was 13.2C, compared to the expected 11.7C.

In contrast, the average maximum only reached 23.1C which is below the long-term average of 24.3C. The lowest minimum was 6C and the highest was 19C, while the maximums ranged from 17.6C to 28.5C.

If May's long-term data for BoM's Carey Park site is maintained, Bunbury will experience an average minimum of 9.4C, maximums of 21.1C and 101mm of rain.

None of the first seven days in May exceeded the 21.1C maximum.

BoM's monthly outlook predicts a 70 per cent chance of the maximum temperature exceeding the median and a 65 per cent chance for the minimums.

There was also 10.6mm of rain in Bunbury on Friday night.
