Carnival atmosphere for Telethon

Families can enjoy a day of fun and games while raising money for charity at the Bunbury Forum's Telethon Family Carnival Day on Sunday.

The carnival day coincides with this year's Telethon weekend, with numerous rides and activities at the centre from 10am to 3pm on the day including bouncy castles, face painting, kids workshops and go karts.

Centre manager Vern Merchant said a lot of people, community groups and volunteers were coming together to make the day happen and he was looking forward to it.

"It is a great community event and Bunbury Forum is proud to be associated with Telethon 2015," he said.

"It is a real family fun day with lots of activities - it is all about families and giving."

Bunbury Forum first got involved with Telethon in 2001 and Telethon marketing and communications manager Lauren Castledine said it was great to have the centre's support.

"Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre has raised over $500,000 for Telethon since 2001 which is an absolutely incredible contribution," she said.

"The tentacles of Telethon reach far and wide into the community, so to have this regional support is incredible."

All-day parking at the centre is free, and rides cost from $2, with all proceeds going to Telethon.

There will also be a selection of entertainment and GWN7 celebrity guests - who are yet to be revealed - on the Telethon VIP stage and live crosses to Channel 7 throughout the day.

Centre food retailers including Kebab & Co, Dome, Wendy's, Muffin Break, Baker's Delight and Birdcage Cafe, will also be offering exclusive food specials for the day.

Ms Castledine said about 60 community fundraisers registered for the Telethon Weekend and events like the carnival day were a great way to raise money.

"They get the community involved which is fantastic and raise lots of money for the sick kids of WA," she said.

Last year Telethon raised $25,271,542, which was distributed back to the community between more than 40 WA beneficiaries including Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Telethon Kids Institute, Starlight Children's Foundation and Riding for the Disabled.

The Telethon live broadcast will be shown on Channel 7 and GWN7 this Saturday and Sunday.
