Performing at Splendour in the Grass and selling out headline shows before you have even released your first album are achievements most bands can only dream of.

For nomadic duo Holy Holy, who can claim every Eastern State as their home, that scenario is a reality.

"A lot more has happened than I expected it would," vocalist Tim Carroll said.

"To even get a song on the radio is something I thought was unreachable not too long ago."

The band toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe in May and performed at a number of festivals.

Given everything they have already achieved, Carroll's highlight of the band's journey so far is perhaps a surprising one.

He described selling out a headline show at Melbourne's Northcote Social Club as a highlight, comparing it to a moment earlier in their career when he felt intimidated by just getting a support slot at the same venue.

Carroll compared the band's sound to The National and Band of Horses.

"We have an Americana sound and are very much a nostalgic 70s guitar band with a focus on song writing and lyricism," he said.

Despite the success and radio play of the band's singles, Carroll is not sure how the album will be received but remains confident about its quality.

"I feel proud of the record, a lot of thought and work has gone into it over the past two years," he said.

"It's definitely the best thing I've released so we'll have to wait and see."
