GTM inspires young art
A group of young Bunbury artists got inspired by the upcoming Groovin' the Moo festival to create posters.
The Sister Cities Project involved the artists creating designs at the Stirling Street Arts Centre with the finished results being shown at the Hay Park concert at on May 7.
After four sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays over the past two weeks, one lucky artist will be flown over for the Canberra leg of the tour.
Stirling Street Arts Centre program coordinator Dee Mosca said the organisers of Groovin' the Moo approached them after a similar project last year.
"It's great that the young artists get an opportunity to exhibit at such a large event," she said.
"The Groovin' the Moo organisers will then choose one person to fly over, which is a great thing.
"The posters will also be photographed and exhibited at the Canberra concert."
Stirling Street Arts Centre tutor and workshop coordinator Charlotte White said the sessions had gone well.
"We initially went through some of the ideas and concepts for the posters during the first few sessions," she said.
"We had about five participants take part and they will all get a free ticket to the Bunbury event.
Mrs White said the artists used a number of media to create the posters including painting, spray painting and mixed media.
