About 300 riders from Perth and the South West are expected to converge on Capel this weekend for the Capel 200 and a round of the State Trail and Enduro series.

The Capel 200, a non-competitive dirt bike rally, gives riders the chance to ride through natural bushland in an event focused on participation.

In addition to the main 60km loop, there will be enduro sections for more experienced riders and also a novice loop.

"There are classes to suit nearly everybody who's got a motorbike," event president Darryl Coxall said.

"A lot of our riders are from Perth so this ride is a good opportunity for them to come down to the South West.

"We have some new ground we've been allowed into and it includes all terrain - rock, gravel and a mix of soils - and it's all natural bushland."

The main ride takes place on Saturday, starting at 9am at 1688 Goodwood Road, Capel.

There will be registrations and machine examinations before the ride gets under way.

Coxall expects about 200 riders to take part on Saturday, with about 70 per cent coming from Perth and the rest from across the South West.

He said there would be entries to the ride available on the day.

Another 100 riders are expected for Sunday's Capel Enduro.

While the two events are technically separate, they will use the same track and many riders will take part in both.

Coxall said Sunday's event would be a chance to see Western Australia's best riders in action.

Free camping will also be available on Friday and Saturday nights to make the event a family-friendly weekend.
