Photo project has women in sharp focus

South West women are invited to take part in a photography project this month aimed at empowering women.

The 100 Women Project is the brainchild of Bunbury photographer Bianca Turri, who had the idea about six months ago.

"I wanted to do something in the community to empower women in a positive way," she said.

Ms Turri hopes to photograph 100 women in 12 hours, capturing them as they are in everyday life and showing them just how beautiful they are.

"I photograph women all the time and when you show them their photo and they look beautiful, they can't believe it's them," she said.

"You don't 'look' beautiful, you 'are' beautiful - that's who you are."

It costs $35 to be a part of the project - which will include a five minute session with Ms Turri and a 5cm x 7cm print - and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the South West Refuge.

South West Refuge CEO Anita Shortland - who will help out on the day - said she felt privileged that Ms Turri had approached them and thought the project was a great, positive promotion of women.

"This is a really lovely way of celebrating women and reminding them that they are beautiful and special," she said.

The project will run from 8am until 8pm on Sunday, October 25 at the Australind Town Hall and Ms Turri said she was looking forward to it.

"I'm really excited," she said.
