Slammers juniors on the ball

SOUTH WESTERN TIMESSouth Western Times

The South West Slammers' junior program has received another big accolade, with eight players selected to represent Country WA in the 2015 Under-16 Australian Junior Championships in Tasmania.

Taylah Burrows, Eleanor Hartill and Cian Parsons will represent the Country WA girls side - being coached by the Slammers' State Basketball League women's coach Juliann Bissaker - at the championships from July 4-11 in Ulverstone.

In the Country WA boys side, Egan Bradbury, Lucas Goff, Thomas Harper and Tom Kelly made the grade, with Clayton Dickinson chosen as a reserve.

Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers director Carl Catalano said the number of Country WA selections was testament to the club's junior program being one of the State's best, and its coaches.

"The kids we have coming through seem to be going well," he said.

"We have added four teams in the WABL this year. This means more kids are being exposed to a higher level of basketball.

"Hopefully then, they can continue and take the next step by representing the State."
