Swim Thur changes course
There is a major change to the Barrett Bunbury Swim Thru this year, with a new course set to bring a different challenge to the swimmers.
In its 34th year, the event will be held on Saturday, March 5 and this year's 1.6km swim will have swimmers starting and finishing at the Bunbury Rowing Club.
Organiser Errol Barrett said because of the issues with the Parade Hotel, where the swim used to finish, a different course had to be taken.
"I am sure it will be a big success," he said.
"It is a good family day with people of all ages entering it."
As with every year, competitors have to nominate a target time and winners will be decided by who gets closest to their nominated times.
"You can be under the age of 15 or nearly 80 and still win," Barrett said.
"We are looking forward to the new course and some good swimmers as well."
Registration will take place at the club between 1.30pm to 2.30pm, followed by race briefing and a mass water start at 3pm.
All money raised from the event will go to the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club.
