Volunteers the secret to Chefs' success
Whether it is cleaning dishes or selling raffle tickets, volunteers are crucial to the success of the Chefs' Long Table Lunch.
Each year about 100 volunteers take on a number of tasks that help make the charity fundraising lunch successful and it will be no different when the event is held on February 28.
Volunteer coordinator Bev Buck said she was after people with a responsible service of alcohol certificate as well as people to help put the marquee up and take it down.
"Each year we need people to help serve drinks and food and also help out by selling raffle tickets," she said.
Mrs Buck said people volunteered during the lunch for a number of reasons, including some who were beneficiaries of the event.
"We couldn't run the event without the help of the volunteers and there are some people who volunteer year after year," she said. "There are a lot of people who want to give back to the community."
Mrs Buck said people wanting to volunteer could visit the Chefs' Long Table Lunch website to complete an application.
One of this year's volunteers is Kerry Trantham, who is also one of the beneficiaries with money from the event going his project, the Koombana Bay Recreational Fishing and Crabbing Platform.
Mr Trantham said after volunteering with fellow Bunbury Sea Rescue members last year, he was keen to lend a helping hand once again.
"I'll be selling raffle tickets and doing some dishes on the day as well," he said.
