Warriors call in NSW recruits
The South West Warriors have strengthened their side heading into their inaugural season of first grade in the NRL WA competition, recruiting three NSW players.
Nick Fenton, Liam Hines and Cameron Matthews were announced last week as the club's first major signings for the upcoming season, with the young trifecta heading across the Nullarbor to improve their football and try a different lifestyle.
Hines, 19, is a full-back from Coffs Harbour who will help fill a role within the side which has been lacking in the past few seasons.
"I came over for the travel and the experience," he said.
"The club has got the motivation to put us into the big league."
Fenton, 20, is from Aberdeen and will fill the position of full-back for the upcoming season.
"My pop is from here and I wanted to travel and experience the place," he said.
"I really want to further my footy in the first grade.
"I like the culture of the club."
Matthews, 18, is the youngest of the trio, but is the most versatile, with the ability to fill the full-back or half-back role.
"This is a great experience, I have never had the opportunity to travel before," he said.
"I have done everything I can in Newcastle footy."
Warriors president Ru Davis said the trio had bought into what the club was trying to do and it was fantastic to have them at the club.
"They have come for the experience," he said.
