One major blowout, an upset of sorts and an expected result, marked the South West Hockey League men's round.

The blowout was a shock 5-2 victory by Wests over leaders Boyanup, knocking the All Blacks off their lofty perch and down to fourth place with the 'upset of sorts' a rare draw, 2-all, for TownSouth with one of the heavyweights, Associates, while champions Marist cruised to victory over winless Exies.

Justin Chilcott, Logan Burgemeister and Phil Moore were the heroes of the day as they matched talent-laden Associates with second-half goals by Moore and Jaymee Garrett, even leading for a while until a late goal was scored by Matt Anderson.

Man-of-the-math Anderson slotted both goals for Associates as the match burst into life after a scoreless first half with Sean Cowan and former South West Strikers fairest and best David O'Brien catching the eye for the Green and Gold.

The boilover was highlighted by a Miles Armstrong hat-trick backed by a brace from Ben Payne as Wests stormed to the top of the points ladder with one of the biggest defeats the All Blacks have suffered in a long while with Kane Wetherell, Ryan McGeoch and Geoff Gibbs fighting hard to keep the enthusiastic young Wests at bay.

The 4-1 Marist win over Exies last Friday night was highlighted by a couple of gals each from Alby Lawrence and Jordan Dwyer, courtesy of Dan Barbetti, and skipper Andrew Blee against a solitary strike by Leighton Stoodley.
