Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to spend around $4.3 million on a new home on the NSW Central Coast with documents signed and a settlement due in October.

The luxurious clifftop residence overlooks the ocean surroundings of Copacabana Beach and will be the PM’s primary residence once he is no longer in the “top job”.

2GB’s Ben Fordham reported the purchase on Tuesday morning and said he messaged Mr Albanese to explain he would announce the purchase to his listeners.

The property, described as enjoying one of the most commanding positions on the clifftop of Copacabana and is within an easy walk of the beach, was reportedly purchased by Mr Albanese and his fiancee Jodie Haydon.

Feedback after the announcement pointed to the PM’s housing commission upbringing, with many callers to Fordham’s program suggested Mr Albanese is preparing for life after he departs The Lodge in Canberra, possibly after the next federal election.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home has been on the market for over 12 months with the latest buyers sealing the deal for $300,000 less than the previous purchase price of $4.65 million in 2021.

The purchase news came only days after the PM’s investment property in Dulwich Hill was withdrawn from sale after little interest and the only potential buyer having cold feet.
