Perfect pick?
Allan the Eagles’ man
End of round one
And that is all of the selections for the first round complete.
West Coast and Fremantle will be very happy with their work, but the shrewd moves need to begin tomorrow.
Both teams have selections through the 40s and 50s they will be hoping to find some diamonds with.
Need for Reid
The Dockers were keen on Murphy Reid and he toured their Cockburn facilities ahead of the draft.
Fremantle will be ecstatic he slipped down to pick 17.
Pick 27 (North Melbourne)
The Roos did go for a big forward and take Matt Whitlock.
He is one of a pair with his brother Jack who is also highly rated.
Matt can also swing back but will likely be used to help Larkey in the forward line.
North moved up desperately, with their next pick scheduled in the 50s.
Late pick trade
North Melbourne has given up a future first-round pick for 2024, pick 27, and a future second-rounder.
They look like they are desperate to grab one of the key forwards that have slipped down the order.
All systems Bo!
The Eagles swooped when they finally got their chance taking local lad Bo Allan.
He played his junior footy for Halls Head in Mandurah and won a flag with Peel Thunder in 2024.
Pick 26 (Sydney)
Sydney select Ned Bowman with pick 26.
He plays for Norwood in South Australia and has spent time play back and forward.
He also loves big marks pulling down a hanger as his name hit the draft radar.
Bowman is a first-round bolter though.
Pick 25 (Brisbane)
The Lions have matched the bid for Sam Marshall after the Swans picked him at 25.
He was an underage All-Australian and always destined for Brisbane through the academy.
He’s a ball-winning midfielder who will flourish under the current group before taking over down the road.
It leaves the Lions with pick 57 as well.
