VideoThe 'dangerous tackle' is back in the AFL spotlight after Brisbane failed to clear Charlie Cameron from his three-match suspension.

Brisbane and GWS will both appeal the tribunal decisions around the three-match suspensions handed down to their respective players in Charlie Cameron and Toby Bedford.

Cameron was unable to overturn his rough conduct charge following his tackle on West Coast co-captain Liam Duggan during Tuesday night’s tribunal hearing.

Later in the evening, Bedford also failed in his bid to escape a similar three-game ban for his tackle that brought down Richmond’s Tim Taranto.

Both Duggan and Taranto will miss this week’s matches due to concussion symptoms.

The appeals are set to be heard on Thursday evening.

The twin tackles and their resulting suspensions sparked a wave of debate across the AFL, including from Duggan’s long-time Eagles teammate Elliot Yeo, who came out in defence of Cameron.

“What is he supposed to do, put a pillow under his head?” Yeo said on 96FM.

“As players, we just thought ‘that’s just a normal tackle’.

“There’s no malice in it, there’s nothing at all. It’s just a bit of unfortunate bad luck.”
