Big Bash League: Perth Scorchers go local as Keaton Jennings dropped from squad
Perth Scorchers have injected two local youngsters into their squad for the clash with Sydney Thunder on Friday, dropping an English import.
Local Replacement Player Bryce Jackson enters the extended squad with Jhye Richardson returning to Test duties, while Sam Fanning will be hoping to add to his one Scorchers appearance.
The inclusion of the pair means Keaton Jennings has been dropped from the squad altogether, having been axed from the playing XI after three outings.
Jackson was the last man signed to Perth’s roster, with the Albany product another attacking seam option to an already stacked line-up.
He set tongues wagging in September, recording the best-ever figures of 6-31 by a WA bowler in the domestic One-Day Cup and has looked sharp in the background of Perth’s season.
Fanning made his Big Bash debut in last season’s Eliminator against Adelaide Strikers, the dashing left-hander scoring 31 from 20 balls.
At the campaign’s midway point, the Scorchers sit second on the table with the league’s second-best net run rate, just a game behind competition leaders Sydney Sixers.
Perth enter the clash against David Warner’s Thunder in good form having trounced the Strikers on New Year’s Eve in Adelaide.
The club is also hosting its annual Aboriginal Match with another bumper crowd of around 42,000 expected, many hoping Kiwi import Finn Allen can make good on his 22-ball 50 at Adelaide Oval.
