Adam Taggart: Perth Glory will bounce back after ‘completely unacceptable’ loss to Melbourne City

There’s no getting away from the fact that Sunday’s performance against Melbourne City was completely unacceptable and I’d like to apologise to our members and fans. It’s been a deeply frustrating start to the season and as players, we are hurting every bit as much as our supporters. They deserve far, far better than what they saw on Sunday and we will do everything we can to react in the best possible way when we return to action after the international break. On the subject of the international break, I’m looking forward to supporting the Socceroos in the latest World Cup qualifiers. These are two huge games which are challenging in different ways. Saudi Arabia are a very good side who are always tough to play against and we’ve had some mighty battles with them over the years. There’s no doubt they’ll be benefit from having Herve Renard in charge. As well as surely being the most stylish head coach in the world, he has enjoyed a huge amount of success around the world during his long career and will have the Saudis well organised and full of confidence. Bahrain are not as strong a side as Saudi Arabia, in my opinion, but conditions over there will make it a tricky test. That said, the Socceroos picked up two excellent results in their last two games against China and Japan and off the back of those, I’m sure they will head into these latest fixtures with a spring in their step. The lads had to dig extremely deep to secure the 1-1 draw in Saitama and it’s those kinds of performances and results that are absolutely vital in terms of qualifying for major tournaments.
