The Novotel & ibis Styles Melbourne Airport hotel will officially start checking-in guests from July 1, 2024 … but we have this sneak peek of the interior and rooms.

It’s a first glimpse inside what is Victoria’s biggest and most significant hotel development.

The dual-branded hotel is the first new-build internationally branded hotel to open at Melbourne Airport in more than 20 years, and will be a real asset for WA travellers connecting through Melbourne Airport, as it is within walking distance of Terminal 4.

The $230 million hotel has 464 rooms.

There are 248 Novotel rooms and 216 ibis Styles.

That gives two levels of prices, comfort and service — think business class or premium economy at Novotel and economy at ibis Styles, if you like.

The development is designed by FK Architect, with interiors styled by Woods Bagot.

A spokesperson for the team has described the sense of space and openness and natural colour palette of Novotel Melbourne Airport as being inspired by regional Victoria.

“Ibis Styles Melbourne Airport depicts the urban grain of Melbourne with a uniquely personalised and playfully fun aesthetic,” the spokesperson added.

Novotel and ibis Styles Melbourne Airport, at 1 Grants Road, Melbourne Airport, is also close to Essendon Football Club, Melbourne Airport Golf Club and the Sunbury wine region.

“Melbourne is now Australia’s largest city, and these hotels are essential for the growing number of people visiting our city, many of whom need a night before or after a long flight,” Melbourne Airport’s Head of Property Development and Asset Development, Stuart Verrier, said.

“But more than that, they also offer dining, wellness, conference and co-working facilities that provide a reason to come out to Melbourne Airport — even if you’re not flying.”

Guests and other travellers will have access to Higher State, Melbourne’s first airport health and wellbeing club.

It has a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, massage and fitness centre.

Picking up on Melbourne’s culinary reputation, there is Small Holdings Cafe for coffee and pastries, Boccata Restaurant and Wine Bar for Italian fare and Amber State Taphouse and Kitchen, which is a modern gastro-pub.

“Given that passenger numbers will only continue to increase over the coming years, these properties are a much-needed addition to Melbourne’s tourism industry and are set to bring huge economic and social benefits not only to Melbourne, but also to the state of Victoria,” General Manager, Novotel & ibis Styles Melbourne Airport, David Alexander, said.
