Christmas 2024 messages: member for North West Central Merome Beard ends year by highlighting local issues

As we head into 2025, I’d like to thank you for your support as the member for North West Central. It’s been a busy year marked by thousands of kilometres on the road and celebrations and challenges across our regions. My number one priority has been to highlight the issues which matter most to you in Parliament to ensure our regions aren’t taken for granted. I’ve fought for issues such as the lack of resources across our regions including in our health and police services, housing, changes to PATS, maternity services in Carnarvon, along with the state of our roads and a lack of action on the Meekatharra, Tom Price and Paraburdoo hospitals. Some others include crime and antisocial behaviour and a need for night safe spaces for children, wraparound services such as drug and alcohol, rehabilitation, transitional housing and mental health. Also, the remediation of the Hamlin Pool stromatolites boardwalk, and pushing for improved train lighting and passive level crossing safety to mention a few. As we head into the March election with the change of electoral boundaries, I’m looking forward to continuing to work with all our communities across the Mid West, Gascoyne and Murchison and those in the new seat of Mid-West, which extends from Coral Bay in the north to Muchea in the south and inland to Meekatharra. A common-sense approach and regional experience are desperately needed in Parliament to ensure that those making decisions who ‘don’t live and don’t know it’ are held to account and outcomes for our regions are delivered. Wherever you are in our vast electorate, the festive period is a great time to pause and reflect on the past year as well as look forward to the new year. Remember to drive safely across our wonderful regions as you visit friends and family, or as you venture to some of our amazing holiday destinations.
