Brookfield Mountain Bike Park to get a revamp, filling a community need after shire bulldozed local bike track

Upgrades to the Brookfield Mountain Bike Park in Margaret River have been confirmed, filling a community need after the shire flattened bike tracks built by school children in November. The shire has partnered with local trail-building experts, Magic Dirt Trailworx, and Brookfield youngsters to elevate the park which originally launched in January 2023. Since December 21, three new jump lines, a connecting trail loop, and a mix of jumps, rollers, table-tops, and banked corners are being put to the test. Shire president Julia Meldrum said the park was the perfect spot for riders of all ages and abilities to enjoy some outdoor excitement. “Created last year as a collaboration between the shire, Magic Dirt Trailworx and our local community, this refresh builds on its success,” she said. “We’re excited to see even more families and young riders enjoying the trails.” Tree planting and weed control measures to protect the local flora have also been incorporated into the revamp of the park — located on the corner of Bottlebrush Drive and Leschenaultia Avenue in Brookfield. Cr Meldrum said preserving our bushland is a priority. “The beautiful jarrah and marri trees provide a natural canopy of shade, making the park a fantastic spot even on sunny summer days,” she said.
