Family get much needed help
A family who helped others during times of need is now on the receiving end of a helping hand.
Seth Davies was diagnosed with leukaemia in April meaning the family had to separate while he was treated in Perth and his father Glynn Davies worked in Bunbury.
Seth’s diagnosis was not the first health scare for the family of four.
Mr Davies was treated for testicular cancer and his wife Coby for a molar pregnancy which led doctors to tell them they would never have more children.
However, a week after their eldest son’s cancer diagnosis, the couple found out Mrs Davies was pregnant again.
Mr Davies said he found the level of support offered to the family “unbelievable”.
Since Seth’s illness was discovered in April Mr Davies said friends and members of the community had helped renovate their house and people had offered to help the family financially, most recently with a charity motorcycle ride by the Rogue Riders.
“It makes you glad you donated to Telethon and stuff, ” he said.
Mr Davies was one of the people who helped Gardies Mates renovate the home of another local family touched by illness.
“All I want is for my family to be back home, ” he said.
“I hope no other kid gets sick, but I’ll be the first one to help.”
The Rogue Riders will hold a charity ride from South West Harley-Davidson on July 26.
Rogue Riders president Jim Polidano said anyone who wanted to help could take donations to South West Harley-Davidson, or the Donnybrook or Capel hotels.
