Busselton product James Tunstill shows potential with joint VFL accolade with Brisbane Lions

Busselton’s James Tunstill has continued to show his potential on the east coast after picking up a VFL accolade for the Brisbane Lions in his first season.

Tunstill was named one of Brisbane’s joint Neville Fallon Reserves Best & Fairest winners for the club’s VFL side, alongside teammate Ryan Lester.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a fantastic season with the Brisbane Lions after being drafted to the club at pick 41 duirng last year’s national draft.

Tunstill made quite the impression during his stint playing VFL matches with Brisbane, averaging 19.1 disposals and became a strong utility playing across the forward line, wing and midfield.

He was eventually rewarded with his AFL debut in round 15 against Melbourne and went on to play three AFL games this year.

During the Brisbane Lion’s presentation night last Friday, Tunstill said it was “an absolute privilege” to win the award.

Tunstill is set to continue making an impact for the Lions in the future, having previously signed a contract, committing him to the club until the end of the 2025 season.

Tunstill is the second South West AFL recruit to take home a club accolade, with Harvey’s Brady Hough previously winning West Coast’s Emerging Talent award.
